SDK/RTE 1.4.2.09 for Debian Linux on Intel Itanium Processors Release Notes
Introduction
The HP Software Development Kit (SDK) 1.4.2 for Linux provides the Java™ 2
programming tools and runtime environment that allow you to deploy version 1.4
technology with the best performance on HP Integrity Itanium® 2 rx7620 servers
running Debian 3.0 with HP's "Telco" extensions (HPTE).
IMPORTANT: This release is only supported on an HP rx7620 server running Debian
3.0 with HP's "Telco" extensions (HPTE). No other HP workstations and servers are
currently supported.
NOTE: -Xeprof is not supported in this release.
Features
HP's SDK 1.4.2.09 Debian Linux release includes Oracle's 1.4.2 standard features and
the virtual machine options and features described below.
The SDK 1.4.2.09 includes the HotSpot 1.4.2.09 server JVM and runs in 64-bit mode on
Itanium 2-based systems. The HotSpot 1.4.2 Server JVM for Itanium systems is suitable
for both client and server workloads. We invoke the Server VM with configuration
options that suit client-side applications.
HP's SDK 1.4.2.09 Debian Linux release supports the use of the HPjtune performance
monitoring tools.

Command-line options and problem fixes are operating system specific. Please refer
to the specific HP platform release notes for details.
NOTE: The Runtime Plug-in and 32-bit mode are not available in this release.
Patches required
No patches are required for this release.
System requirements
The HP SDK 1.4.2 for Linux can currently be used with Debian 3.0 on HP Integrity
Itanium 2 rx7620 servers running Debian 3.0 with HP's "Telco" extensions (HPTE). (No
other HP workstations and servers are currently supported.) Also note that -Xeprof
is not supported in this release.
