HPjconfig is a Java configuration tool that allows you to tune your HP-UX 11i systems
for specific types of Java applications. It works with the SDK and RTE for Java 2, version
1.4.x and later.
HPjconfig 3.3.00 is an updated release that adds support for Java 7 and provides updated
patch and tunable recommendations and an enhanced -data command-line option
that now accepts a URL in addition to a simple filename.
HPjconfig browses the HP recommended values in the data file and provides
recommendations for the following Java parameters: maxusers, nproc,
max_thread_proc, nkthread, nfile, maxfiles, maxfiles_lim, ncallout,
maxdsiz, and maxdsiz_64bit.
Enhanced command-line option: -data [filename | URL]
The HPjconfig tool contains a copy of patch and tunable data that is current at the time
that the tool is built. Under normal operation, HPjconfig tries to connect to an HP
website to check for newer patch and tunable data. If newer data is found, HPjconfig
downloads and uses the newer data. If you run HPjconfig on a system that is not able
to download the new data, you can use this option to specify the location of the data
file. Normally, it is not necessary to use the -data option, because the information
contained in the tool is usually recent enough.
Unmodified versions of files obtained from HP are the only supported data files.
Java product version required
SDK and Runtime Environment for Java 2, version 1.4.x and later.
System requirements
All HP-UX 11i PA-RISC and HP Integrity systems are currently supported.
Installation instructions
HPjconfig is released as a compressed TAR file, HPjconfig-3.3.00.tar.gz, which
contains the files: LICENSE.HPjconfig.txt, HPjconfig.release.notes, and
HPjconfig.jar.
If you want to install HPjconfig 3.3.00 in the same location as HPjconfig 2.0 or earlier
releases, HP recommends that you first remove that previous version. HPjconfig 3.3.00
contains a data file that is in a different format than those in HPjconfig 2.0 or earlier
versions.
