HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator (iSCSI-00) B.11.31.03d Release Notes (February 2013)
1 HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator (iSCSI-00) overview
The HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator (iSCSI-00) is a software driver that allows HP-UX to access
SCSI mass storage devices, using TCP/IP on Ethernet networks. iSCSI is an abbreviation of Internet
Small Computer System Interface. The HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator is a software implementation
of the iSCSI protocol (RFC 3720) based on the HP-UX host TCP/IP stack. The iSCSI protocol defines
a mass storage transport wedge between TCP and the SCSI Services layer. The HP-UX iSCSI
Software Initiator is compliant with RFC 3720. To access the IETF iSCSI Specification RFC 3720,
go to the following web address:
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3720.txt
The HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator consists of the following modules:
• iSCSI Transport Driver
The Session management module.
• iSCSI Software Interface Driver
The interface to the host-based TCP/IP module.
The HP-UX iSCSI Software Initiator requires no changes to applications that access mass storage
devices.

DescriptionSR number
HP-UX 11.31 iSCSI targets go offline (NO_HW) intermittently
This occurs especially when system memory consumption is high.
QXCR1001231967
Some HP-UX 11.31 iSCSI targets are not visible; error messages such as “Invalid key value
(n.n.n.n.n) received from the target for TargetAddress key” are reported in syslog
This occurs when the target does not specify the optional port information with the
