Troubleshooting with the mip6admin Administration Tool
In addition to administering mip6mod, you can use mip6admin as a valuable troubleshooting tool. The
following is a brief list of how you can troubleshoot HP-UX Mobile IPv6 with mip6admin:
• reporting a wide variety of Mobile IPv6 statistics using mip6admin commands and options
• displaying events logged by mip6mod using syslogd
• switching (toggle) debug settings for security enforcement
The following table lists mip6admin commands you can use to troubleshoot Mobile IPv6 using the mip6admin
tool. Refer to Chapter 5, “Administering the Mobile IPv6 Kernel Module with the mip6admin Tool,” on
page 63 for complete information about mip6admin.

getconfiguration
Reports current Mobile IPv6 kernel module and Router Advertisements Daemon
configuration.
prefixes Reports prefix information from the Mobile IPv6 kernel module and Router
Advertisement Daemon.

bindings -l[ist] -r[emove] [mobile node home address]
Reports information about the Mobile IPv6 kernel module binding cache entries.
flush -f[orce] -b[indings] -p[refixes]
Flushes all binding cache and prefix list entries in the Mobile IPv6 kernel module.
logevents [-f log-file] [-l log-level]
Displays Mobile IPv6 syslog (read from /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log).
statistics -re[set] -g[eneral] -b[indings] -rr
Reports or resets the Mobile IPv6 kernel module’s statistical counters per interface.
halist [-i interface name]
Reports list of Home Agents from the Router Advertisement Daemon.
rtradvstatistics -r[eset] -i [interface name]
Reports or resets Router Advertisement Daemon statistical counters per interface.

Displays help information on one or more mip6admin commands.
