CPU Utilization
Figure 2 shows the percentage of the CPU used by the s
ending system. Of the three HP-UX IPSec
transfer types, ESP- AES has the lowest CPU utilization rates, and provides the strongest encryption.
CPU utilization for DES and AES decreases as the packet size increases, while CPU utilization for
3DES remains consistently high.

Service Demand
Figure 3 shows the service demand (the CPU time, in mic
roseconds, required to send one kilobyte of
data) for ESP-AES, ESP-DES, and ESP-3DES. Lower service demand levels indicate greater efficiency.
When comparing the three IPsec transfer types, the service demand levels are lowest (most efficient)
for ESP-AES.
