ARPA Transport Upgrades

The ARPA Transport upgrades required for HP-UX IPSec A.02.01.01 vary according to the HP-UX

version and the use of the following optional features:

• The Streams NOSYNC option. The NOSYNC option is a Streams feature that improves IP

performance by enabling it to simultaneously process multiple requests received on the

same queue.

• Dynamic keying for MIPv6 (available with HP-UX 11.23 v2UD2 and later). This feature

provides IPsec encryption and authentication for Mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) packets using IKE

(dynamic security keys).

NOTE: HP-UX IPSec A.02.01.01 contains changes for compatibility with ARPA Transport. If

you are using HP-UX IPSec on an HP-UX 11i v1 system, you must install Transport Optional

Upgrade Release (TOUR) or a subsequent software release that incorporates TOUR functionality,

as described in the following sections. In addition, see “Migration Recommendations for HP-UX

11i v1 Customers” (page 18).

HP-UX 11i v1 Systems Without NOSYNC

If you have an HP-UX 11i v1 system and will NOT use the Streams NOSYNC feature, you must

install the following ARPA Transport upgrade:

• Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 2.4 or a subsequent software release that

incorporates TOUR 2.4 functionality.

HP-UX 11i v1 Systems With NOSYNC

If you have an HP-UX 11i v1 system and will use the Streams NOSYNC feature, you must install

the following ARPA Transport upgrade:

• Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 3.0 or a subsequent software release that

incorporates TOUR 3.0 functionality.

HP-UX 11i v2 Update 2 Systems Without MIPv6 Security and NOSYNC

If you have an HP-UX 11i v2 Update 2 system and will NOT use the MIPv6 dynamic keying and

Streams NOSYNC features, you do not have to install any ARPA Transport upgrades.

HP-UX 11i v2 Update 2 Systems With MIPv6 Security or NOSYNC

If you have an HP-UX 11i v2 Update 2 system and will use the MIPv6 dynamic keying or Streams

NOSYNC feature, you must install the following ARPA Transport upgrade:

• Transport Optional Upgrade Release (TOUR) 3.0 or a subsequent software release that

incorporates TOUR 3.0 functionality.

Installing TOUR

TOUR version 2.0 and later (including ARPA Transport releases that incorporate TOUR

functionality) are not compatible with versions of HP-UX IPSec prior to A.02.00. You cannot

install TOUR version 2.0 or later on a system with a release of HP-UX IPSec prior to A.02.00. If

you have a prior version of HP-UX IPSec installed, you must install TOUR and HP-UX IPSec

A.02.01.01 (or any version of HP-UX IPSec that is numbered A.02.00 or higher) at the same time.

Alternatively, you can remove (swremove) the prior version of HP-UX IPSec before installing

TOUR.

You do not have to install all TOUR components, but you must install the TOUR PRODUCT

component.

Hardware Requirements

This version of HP-UX IPSec runs on HP 9000 and HP Integrity servers.
