TCP Connect, Request, and Response (CRR) Transaction Test
Results
The netfperf connect, request, and response (CRR) test provides performance data for TCP
transactions. Each transaction consists of the following events:
• The netperf client and server establish a TCP connection
• The netperf client sends a request to the server
• The netserver server sends a response to the client
HP measured CRR performance with varying request and response packet sizes, including 128-byte
request packets with 8192-byte response packets. This configuration simulates communication with an
HTTP or FTP server, where the requestor sends a relatively small request and the responder sends a
relatively large response.
This document includes the following data from TCP CRR tests, as measured on the responder
(netserver) system:
• TCP CRR Transaction Rate
The number of CRR transactions per second.
• TCP CRR Responder CPU Utilization
The percentage of the system CPU capacity used on the responder.
• TCP CRR Responder Service Demand
The number of microseconds of CPU time required to process one KB of outbound data on the
responder.
