ipl_suppress
The tunable ipl_suppress can be used to modify the logging behavior of
HP-UX IPFilter for identical records. By default, the value is set to 1.
Therefore, when HP-UX IPFilter encounters identical records, it does not
print every record but prints the record and N where N is the number of
times the record was repeated. If the value is set to 0 using kctune, all
the records, including duplicate records, are printed.
For information on changing the ipl_suppress variable, see
“Configuring Kernel Tunable Parameters” on page 17.
ipl_logall
When logging is enabled, HP-UX IPFilter logs the first 128 bytes of the
packet. By setting the value of the ipl_logall kernel tunable to 1, you
can log the entire packet. Logging the entire packet quickly fills the log
files and, therefore, care should be taken while enabling the ipl_logall
tunable.
For information on changing the ipl_logall variable, see “Configuring
Kernel Tunable Parameters” on page 17.
Configuring Kernel Tunable Parameters
The kctune command can be used to query and configure HP-UX
IPFilter kernel tunable parameters.
To query the value of a kernel tunable, enter the kctune command with
the kernel tunable. For example:
kctune ipl_logall
