AppendixB Conguration Files
This appendix describes:
Initial denition of SNAplus2 node and domain resources
Format of conguration les
Changes made to the node and domain resources by the Motif program
File input to the
snapadmin
program
B.1 Initial Conguration Files
Conguration records for a nodes resources are included in the node conguration le. When you start the
SNAplus2 software, the conguration le
/etc/opt/sna/sna_node.cfg is used as the initial denition of
the nodes conguration. SNAplus2 uses the information in this le to dene the resources available when the node
is started and to start any resources that you have specied as being initially active.
Conguration records for domain resources are included in the domain conguration le, instead of in individual
node conguration les. For information about the distinction between domain resources and node resources, refer
to the
HP-UX SNAplus2 Administration Guide.
When you start the SNAplus2 software on the master server, the domain conguration le /etc/opt/sna/
sna_domn.cfg is used as the initial denition of SNAplus2 domain resources.
If a le cannot be opened or if it contains information that is not valid, the SNAplus2 node will not start. For more
information about starting SNAplus2, refer to HP-UX SNAplus2 Administration Guide.
B.2 Conguration File Format
A SNAplus2 conguration le is an ASCII text le with information stored in readable text format. You can set
up or check your conguration using a standard ASCII text editor.
Although you can modify conguration les using a text editor, you can do this only when the SNAplus2 software is
not running. You are not recommended to modify the les in this way except when setting up the initial conguration
(before starting the SNAplus2 software). To modify the conguration while the SNAplus2 software is running, use
the command-line administration program or the Motif administration program. If you need to modify a nodes
conguration le using a text editor, the SNAplus2 software must not be running on the node or on the server for
that node.If you need to modify the domain conguration le using a text editor, you must rst stop the SNAplus2
software on all servers, modify the le on the master server, and then restart the SNAplus2 software on the master
server before restarting it on any other servers.
Note
Both SNAplus2 conguration les are regenerated by the owning server when a congu-
ration command is issued or when conguration is changed using the Motif interface. If
you have changed the le using a text editor while the SNAplus2 software is running, these
conditions will overwrite your changes to the le, and the sequence of elds in the le may
be changed.
