Migrating Schedules from Older Versions of HIDS
Starting with HIDS v4.1, the GUI System Manager stores schedules in text format
instead of Java serialized objects. Pre-v4.1 schedules stored in Java serialized objects
must be converted to text format to allow the v4.1 GUI and CLUI to manage and activate
them.
Migrating Schedules from HIDS v3.x to HIDS v4.1
You can use one of the following methods to migrate schedules from HIDS v3.x to
HIDS v4.1:
• Migrate schedules to HIDS v4.0 first and then migrate them to HIDS v4.1
• Migrate schedules directly to HIDS v4.1
NOTE: If you are planning to migrate numerous text schedules to HIDS v4.1, then
HP recommends migrating them first to HIDS v4.0.
Migrating Schedules to HIDS 4.0 and then Migrating them to HIDS v4.1
To migrate HIDS v3.x schedules to HIDS v4.0, complete the following steps:
1. Upgrade the HIDS v3.x administration system to HIDS v4.0.
2. Log in as user ids.
3. Start the HIDS v4.0 GUI System Manager.
The HIDS v4.0 GUI System Manager automatically converts the existing HIDS
v3.x schedules to HIDS v4.0 schedules.
4. Complete steps 2 and 3 and 5–7 in “Migrating Schedules to HIDS v4.1 Directly”
to migrate your schedules from HIDS v4.0 to HIDS v4.1 format.
Migrating Schedules to HIDS v4.1 Directly
To migrate your HIDS v3.x schedules directly to HIDS v4.1, complete the following
steps:
1. Start the HIDS v3.x GUI System Manager, and open the Schedule Manager screen.
2. Select each schedule that you want to migrate and select the Details tab.
3. Click the Save button.
The schedule is saved in text format in
/var/opt/ids/gui/logs/<schedulename>.txt on the administration host
system.
4. In each schedule, replace any occurrence of priv_uid_list with
priv_user_list.
