Compatibility with Previous Releases
HP-UX HIDS Release 4.0 software is backward compatible with Release
3.1, Release 3.0 (collectively referred to as 3.x) and not with Release 2.0,
Release 2.1, Release 2.2 (collectively referred to as 2.x). The Release 4.0
System Manager cannot manage Release 2.x agents, and the Release 2.x
System Manager cannot manage Release 4.0 agents. To support
backward compatibility between Release 4.0 and Release 3.x versions,
the HIDS Release 4.0 System Administration GUI will dynamically
generate Release 3.x schedules from Release 4.x schedules and send it to
Release 3.x agents. In addition, Release 4.0 agents can parse Release 3.x
text schedule files.The Release 2.x and Release 3.x communication keys
and certificates are recognized and valid in Release 4.0, and users do not
need to generate keys and certificates after migrating to Release 4.0.
HP recommends that users upgrade all systems to HIDS Release 4.0.
NOTE You cannot directly migrate HP-UX HIDS Release 2.x schedules to
HP-UX HIDS Release 4.0 schedules. You must first migrate Release 2.x
schedules to Release 3.1 schedules and then upgrade to Release 4.0
schedules. For more information about migration, see “When Updating
