IOZone Results: Default Tuning
The first set of IOZone test results are performed on a newly-loaded system with default HP-UX 11iv2
kernel parameters and default VxFS filesystem parameters.
Figure 7 Default Sequential Writes
This test case sequential writes with default tuning exhibits the most puzzling result of the entire
body of tests. EVFS exhibited higher throughput that clear I/O. Remember that these results are 3
separate test runs that are averaged then graphed, so these results are consistent and repeatable.
The default tunes are probably partially responsible for these results, but further tests will clear this up
and produce expected throughput. Also curious is the spike in EVFS CPU Utilization for 10 threads.
This result is consistent through all of the tests, while the heavier loads of 25, 50, and 100 threads
actually consume less CPU at higher throughput rates. Despite the anomalies in this test, the
throughput figures show the expected upward curve.
Note that the Throughput Scale is Scale20 for the write tests.
