New and Changed Features in this Release
HP-UX EVFS version 1.1.1 (A.01.01.01) includes the defect fixes listed in “Defects Fixed in this
Release” (page 6). It also includes the new features introduced in HP-UX EVFS version 1.1,
such as support for in-line encryption. For a list of the new features introduced in HP-UX EVFS

Defects Fixed in this Release
This version contains fixes for the defects listed in the sections that follow.
EVFS Does Not Start If VxVM Is Not Installed
Defect Number QXCR1000834198
Description EVFS does not start if the Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) product bundle is not
installed.
Symptoms The evfsadm start command returns the following error:
evfsadm: start error: invalid admin device "/dev/evfs/admin"
Attempts to mount an EVFS volume fail because the EVFS subsystem is not started. The mount
command returns the error I/O error.
If EVFS is configured for autostart and the /etc/fstab file contains entries for EVFS volumes,
the system console displays the following messages:
evfsadm: start error: invalid admin device "/dev/evfs/admin"
vxfs fsck: /dev/evfs/vg00/test2:sanity check failed: cannot open /dev/evfs/vg00/test2: I/O error
Starting EVFS operations ............................................ FAIL *
The /etc/rc.log file contains the messages similar to the following:

To determine if VxVM is installed on the system, enter the following command:
lsdev -C vxvm
If this command displays no devices, VxVM is not installed.
Workaround On systems without EVFS version 1.1.1 or later, you can install or reinstall the
VxVM product bundle.
