HP-UX Directory Server 8.1 administrator guide

4.3.6 Restoring the dse.ldif configuration file
The directory creates two backup copies of the dse.ldif file in the
/etc/opt/dirsrv/slapd-instance_name directory. The dse.ldif.startOK file records
a copy of the dse.ldif file at server start up. The dse.ldif.bak file contains a backup of the
most recent changes to the dse.ldif file. Use the version with the most recent changes to restore
the directory.
To restore the dse.ldif configuration file:
1. Stop the server. For more information about the command to start and stop the HP-UX
Directory Server, see“Starting and stopping servers”.
/opt/dirsrv/slapd-instance_name/stop-slapd
2. Restore the database as outlined in“Restoring a single database”to copy the backup copy
of the dse.ldif file into the directory.
3. Start the server.
/opt/dirsrv/slapd-instance_name/start-slapd
