This section describes creating root and sub suffixes for the directory using either the Directory
Server Console or the command line.

Creating a new root suffix using the console
1. In the Directory Server Console, select the Configuration tab.
2. Right-click Data in the left navigation pane, and select New Root Suffix from the pop-up menu.
3. Enter a unique suffix in the New suffix field.
The suffix must be named with dc naming conventions, such as dc=example,dc=com.
