HP DCE/9000 Version 1.7 for HP-UX 11.0 Release Note

24 HP DCE 1.7 for HP-UX 11.0 Release Note
Known Problems and Work Arounds
Known Problems for HP DCE/9000 Version 1.7
Series 817 and 827 systems do not perform well under moderate DCE
activity. It is therefore recommended that HP DCE 1.7 should not be
installed on these systems.
Both libdce and libcma were versioned at HP-UX 11.0. libdce.1 and
libcma.1 are the HP-UX 10.20 patch PHSS-10565 (domestic version
PHSS-10566) Version 1.5 libraries. libdce.2 and libcma.2 support
HP-UX 11.0/HP DCE/9000 Version 1.7.
Because of this versioning, applications built on HP-UX 10.30/HP
DCE/9000 Version 1.6 will fail unless they are recompiled.
Although HP DCE 1.7 can be installed on both the HP-UX 11.0 32-bit
OS and the 64-bit OS, HP DCE 1.7 does not support development of
64-bit DCE applications.
The HP DCE 1.7 online help is mislabelled. The Help Manager
window identifies the help as Version 1.6 instead of Version 1.7.
When configuring HP DCE 1.7, you may safely ignore the following
note regarding the online help:
The helpgen utility has been run to create an up-to-date help
browser volume for this system. If you have modified the
environment variable XVHHELPSYSTEMSEARCHPATH (in the
/usr/vue/config/Xsession file), but did not run `update' during
an HP VUE session, your custom value for
XVHHELPSYSTEMSEARCHPATH may not have been used. You may need to
log into an HP VUE session and rerun helpgen as superuser.(For
more information, refer to the helpgen man page.)
Oracle Version 7.3.3 was built on HP-UX 10.20 and compiled using
libc.a (archived libc) and libcma.sl (shared libcma). This
compilation mechanism is neither recommended by Hewlett-Packard
nor is it Oracle's usual compilation practice. However, in the specific
case of Oracle 7.3.3, this mechanism was used, leading to a specific
issue with running the HP-UX 10.20 compiled Oracle 7.3.3. on
HP-UX 11.0.
In HP-UX 11.0, two shared versions of libcma.sl are provided in the
HP-UX runtime product. The file /usr/lib/libcma.2 (the default
libcma.sl) was compiled on 11.0; the file /usr/lib/libcma.1 provided is
the latest 10.20 revision incorporating several defect repairs for
problems uncovered in the field with HP-UX 10.20.
