HP 9000 Containers A.03.01 on HP Integrity Server Administrator Guide HP-UX 11i v3 (5900-3112, June 2013)

Table 5 Known issues and workarounds (continued)
WorkaroundIssue
Contact HP for details about ARIES patch that resolves the
issue.
Oracle database server core dumps and the stack trace
shows function name sjontlo_threa_main.
Switch to PSETs if the resource manager is in use.PRM FSS cannot be used along with Oracle Database
Resource Manager. See http://www.hp.com/go/
hpux-prm-docs—> Using HP PRM with Oracle databases.
Use the prmmonitor command instead of GlancePlus to
monitor resource usage.
Another option is to create an application record in
GlancePlus to group container specific processes together
(using a filter). Processes running inside a container are
prefixed with the container identifier when they are listed.
Hence, the container identifier can be used as a filter to
group container processes (container identifiers are listed
in /etc/cmpt-db).
HP GlancePlus returns no information for PRM groups
configured with PSETs.
Contact HP for a fix or workaround.CIFS client, smbd, and nmbd (part of CIFS server) fail inside
an HP 9000 container.
Upgrading to SAP kernel 1773 patch generally solves the
issue. You can also contact HP for a workaround.
When earlier versions of SAP are used, the stopsap
command hangs and produces a core dump of the
sapstart process.
Set the maxfiles and maxfiles_lim parameters to
2048.
Earlier versions of Connect Direct fail when the kernel
parameter maxfiles is larger than 2048.
Comment out the line
securerandom.source=file:/dev/random in the
java.security file in <java_home>/jre/lib/
security.
Earlier versions of Java (before 1.4.2.28) fail to run inside
a container and display an error message
java.lang.InternalError: URLSeedGenerator
file:/dev/random generated exception:
Permission denied.
Edit the /etc/profile file to initiate stty for required
settings.
Some of the terminal settings might be lost when moving
to an HP 9000 container. For example, Ctrl+C might no
longer interrupt processes when logged in using telnet
or rlogin.
Copy telnetd and its dependencies from HP-UX 11i v1
or HP-UX 11.00 system to the container.
For more information about configuring telnet, see
Section 4.5.16 (page 29)
HP-UX 10.20 system container has no telnet access.
Configure container pre-start mounts as described in
Section 8.5 (page 50).
If mounts for a container are configured in global /etc/
fstab, they do not appear in the output of the bdf
command inside the container, post reboot. Also, the
subsequent unmount operations might report errors.
Increase parameters such as npty or maxfiles to
accommodate all the users and applications in many
containers.
The hp9000_conf_tunables script does not add up
parameters when multiple containers are created on the
same host.
Write an init.d script that runs the following commands
after system reboot:
echo audit_en_logins_compat/W 1" | \
adb -o -w /stand/vmunix /dev/kmem
echo "audit_logoff_compat/W 1" | \
adb -o -w /stand/vmunix /dev/kmem
When auditing is enabled with HP 9000 system containers,
the login and logoff events do not get recorded.
Issuing a second or third srp stop generally works.
This issue usually occurs when Autofs is enabled. If there
is no requirement, turn off Autofs in the /etc/
rc.config.d/nfsconf file inside the container.
The srp stop operation sometimes returns before all
the processes are killed.
