HP 9000 Containers A.03.01 on HP Integrity Server Administrator Guide HP-UX 11i v3 (5900-3112, June 2013)
Error messages
If you get an error message, Could not generate swlist:
• Verify whether the /var/adm/sw directory exists under <hp9000_root>.
• Verify whether the /var/adm/sw directory or directories under it such as /var/adm/sw/
products is a symbolic link. For example, if the link is to the /softdepot directory, create
a link to this directory (with the same path) on the host system:
$ ln –s /<hp9000_root>/softdepot /softdepot
If you get an error message Could not find HP 9000 HP-UX version, configure the OS
version manually by editing the -pa_os_ver parameter in the files /var/hpsrp/<srp_name>/
.ariesrc and /var/hpsrp/<srp_name>/.aries64rc.
4.4.3 Verifying configuration of HP 9000 system container
To verify the configuration of HP 9000 system container:
$ srp –list <srp_name> -v | more
4.4.4 Changing configuration parameters (if required)
To change the configuration parameters:
$ srp –replace <srp_name>
4.4.5 Reverting configuration (if required)
If you encounter any errors during configuration, delete the partial container:
$ srp –delete <srp_name> delete_changes_ok=yes
4.5 Additional container configuration
This section explains the additional configurations that might be required for certain HP 9000
system containers.
4.5.1 Configuring host name and node name
By default, the container name is also used as the node name and host name for the HP 9000
container. For more information about how to modify this configuration, see Section 8.7 (page 53).
Change the host name in the following scenarios:
• Legacy HP 9000 environments might not support long names. If the container name is more
than 8 characters in length, give a different host name or node name to the container.
• If SG is used with the HP 9000 container in the application package model, the HP 9000
container on each node must have a different IP address (but the same compartment name).
Hence, HP recommends configuring different host names on each node.
Configure applications inside the HP 9000 container with the host name. Typically, this involves
editing application configuration files with new host names, but some applications store this name
in databases or in internal formats. For more information about how to edit the host name, see the
application documentation.
4.5.2 Configuring IP address
Configure applications inside the HP 9000 container to listen to the IP address of the container.
Some applications store the IP address in the databases. See the respective application
documentation for reconfiguring IP addresses.
Use HP 9000 system IP address for the HP 9000 container if application license depends on IP
address and it cannot be migrated, or if application reconfiguration for IP address is complex.
