HP 9000 Containers A.03.01 on HP Integrity Server Administrator Guide HP-UX 11i v3 (5900-3112, June 2013)
Root user configuration A system container has a root user with fewer privileges
than the root user of the HP-UX 11i v3 host system. Enter
the root password when prompted.
DNS configuration By default, the DNS configuration for an HP 9000 system
container is the same as that in the HP 9000 image. To
change the configuration, specify the new values of the DNS
parameters when prompted.
Disallowed commands configuration HP 9000 Containers A.03.01 provides the following two
options for disabling system administration-related
commands inside the container:
• By default, HP 9000 Containers A.03.01 overwrites
the disallowed commands with a dummy executable
that displays an error message and exits.
• Use compartment rules to restrict commands.
For HP-UX 11.xx containers, select the default option to
begin with.
For HP-UX 10.xx containers, select the option to use
compartment rules to restrict commands.
Use rules to restrict unsupported commands
[no] yes
PRM configuration HP 9000 Containers uses PRM to allocate resources to
individual containers. During container creation, enter the
following parameters:
• CPU Entitlement (shares)—Minimum share of the CPU
when the system is at peak load.
• Max CPU Usage (%)—Maximum percentage of the
CPU that the container can use.
• Memory Entitlement (shares)—Minimum share of the
private real memory when the system is at peak load.
• Max Memory (%)—Maximum percentage of the private
real memory that can be allocated for the container
from the available user memory.
• Shared Memory (megabytes)—The minimum size of
the real memory in megabytes allocated to the container
for shared memory usage.
Network parameters A static IP address is essential for the container. DHCP is
currently not supported.
Ensure that IP address, LAN interface, gateway IP, and
subnet mask are configured. The LAN interface can be either
private to the container or shared.
If IPv4 address is used for HP 9000 server, use the same
for HP 9000 container because the environment might not
support IPv6.
If this configuration is on one of the nodes of an SG cluster
and if the container IP address is to be managed by SG,
then answer to the following question must be no.
Add IP address to netconf file? [yes] no
