Integrate Logins with HP CIFS Server, HP-UX, and Windows 2003R2/2008
37
Solution Operation
The Unified Login configuration is now complete. Login credentials for the Windows 2003R2/2008
domain originate from the Active Directory user objects. Logins to the HP-UX system use NSS LDAP to
access user/group IDs from the Active Directory user and group objects, and use PAM Kerberos to
authenticate the users for access to the HP-UX system. HP CIFS Server access from domain users is
authenticated by the HP CIFS Server Kerberos configuration, and user/group IDs are retrieved from
the Active Directory by the HP CIFS Server calls to the LDAP-UX Client. All user and group data is
stored on the Active Directory, except for specific HP-UX users that are resident in /etc/passwd (like
root).
Operational examples are provided for the following:
HP CIFS Server
HP-UX logins
Secure Internet Services
Secure Shell
HP CIFS Server Example
The following examples illustrate the operation sequence for mounting an HP CIFS Server share.
The domain consists of Windows 2003R2 /2008 domain controllers, a cluster of HP-UX 11.23 or
11.31 servers running HP CIFS Server, and domain member clients.
