format. When CIFS/Samba creates a keytab file, it adds keys for every likely combination of service
principals and encryption formats. There are 7 encryption formats. Keytabs are created for case-
specific HOST/host and CIFS/cifs service principals, as well as SYSTEM/system service principals. For
this test system, there were 6 service principals in the Computer object of the Active Directory. This
results in a keytab file that has 182 service principals.
Do not be alarmed when examining a krb5.keytab file and observing many records. This is normal for
a CIFS/Samba system.
