HP CIFS Server 3.0e Release Note version A.02.02.01
HP CIFS Server Release Note
New Fixes in HP CIFS Server A.02.02.01
Chapter 1 7
The changes have been made in the HP CIFS Server code to
initialize the "kernel oplocks" smb.conf parameter properly and
and turn it off by default since HP-UX does not support kernel
oplocks. The problem in conjunction with CR JAGaf87049 leads to a
server crash.
• A user cannot rename or delete files when using "force group"
in smb.conf
(CR JAGaf90521)
When the root directory of a share has group ownership of a UNIX
group and force group configuration is used so that the user is
forced to have UNIX group permissions, then the user cannot
rename or delete files on that share. This problem only occurs with
files not directories.
• Remove the dependency on the NIS domain when
configuring netgroups
(CR JAGaf92455)
The changes have been made to remove the dependency on the NIS
domain name to be set in /etc/rc.conf.d/namesvrs when
configuring netgroups via one of configuration parameters, such as
valid user or invalid user. The HP CIFS Server will search all
available netgroups on the HP-UX system. The netgroups
information is controlled via nsswitch.conf.
• Add a man page entry and help text in SWAT for
synsmbpasswd
(CR JAGaf08651)
SWAT help text and man pages have been created for synsmbpasswd.
• Document correct usage of hide files=filename
(CR JAGaf84521)
Update the smb.conf man page and SWAT utility to properly
document the usage of hide files=filename in this release. Refer
to SWAT or the smb.conf man page for details.
• Add the new CIFS daemon monitoring utility
(CR JAGaf83834)
This release provides a new tool, smbmonitor.pl for the CIFS server
daemon monitoring and alert management.
