Announcement

This document contains information about some minor enhancements

and defect ﬁxes provided in the A.02.02.01 release of the HP CIFS

Server, as well as other helpful information. HP CIFS Server A.02.02.01

is supported on HP-UX release 11i v1 and v2. The following list is a

summary of the changes included in this release.

Common Internet File System (CIFS) Server

A.02.02.01

• HP CIFS Server A.02.02.01 is based on Samba 3.0.14a. It is a ﬁx

release that delivers HP speciﬁc defect ﬁxes and minor

enhancements.

• Provides a new smbmonitor.pl tool for CIFS server daemon

monitoring and alert management. You can use this tool to check the

HP CIFS Server running status and send email alerts upon detection

of failures. Intended for use outside the ServiceGuard environment,

this tool can be used to re-start the CIFS server daemon

automatically if the daemon is not running. See “smbmonitor.pl

Script” on page 5 for details.

• Removes the dependency on the NIS domain name in

/etc/rc.conf.d/namesvrs when conﬁguring netgroups via the

smb.conf conﬁguration parameters.

• This version of the HP CIFS Server addresses problems resolved

since version A.02.02. Please refer to the section “New Fixes in HP

CIFS Server A.02.02.01” on page 6 for details.

Product Revision Number

New versions of the HP CIFS Server are identiﬁed by the product

revision number (A.xx.xx.FF), and are either a feature or ﬁx release.
