HP CIFS Server Release Note New Fixes in HP CIFS Server A.02.02 Stopping and Re-starting Daemons to Apply New Settings The smb.conf configuration file is automatically reloaded every minute if it changes. You can force a reload by sending a SIGHUP to the CIFS server. Reloading the configuration file does not affect connections to any service that is already established. But, you must stop and re-start the CIFS server daemons to apply the new setting for the following parameters in smb.
HP CIFS Server Release Note What’s New in HP CIFS Server A.02.02 What’s New in HP CIFS Server A.02.02 HP CIFS Server A.02.02 provides the following new enhancements and changes: idmap_rid Support The idmap_rid facility with winbind provides a unique mapping of Windows SID to local UNIX UID and GID mappings. This facility uses the RID of the user SID to generate the UID and GID by adding the RID number to a configurable base value.

You might also specify a combination of passdb backends.
HP CIFS Server Release Note Known Problems and Workarounds Known Problems and Workarounds For HP CIFS Server A.02.02 The following is a list of known problems and, where possible, the appropriate workarounds for the HP CIFS Server A.02.02: Problem Share mode security does not work with POSIX ACLs. Workaround Microsoft servers do not support share mode security and Windows NT ACLs. No workaround currently exists. Problem CIFS clients cannot delete open files.

Problem Creation of symlinks using UNIX extension fails if a full path is used to specify the symlink. Workaround Change to the directory where the symlink will reside and create the link using relative path.
