1 HP CIFS Server Release Note

Announcement

This document contains information about bug ﬁxes and some minor

enhancements provided in the A.02.01.02 release of the HP CIFS Server,

as well as other helpful information. HP CIFS Server A.02.01.02 is

supported on HP-UX release 11i v1 and v2. The following list is a

summary of the changes included in this release.

Common Internet File System (CIFS) Server

A.02.01.02

• This version of HP CIFS Server is a ﬁx release based on Samba 3.0.7.

• Support for new option RUN_WINBIND in /etc/rc.config.d/samba

to enable automatic start of the winbind daemon, winbindd.

• Support for new -l and L options for the wbinfo utility to display

user and group ﬁle ownership without name length limitations.

• The Bad Uid option has been provided for map to guest

conﬁguration parameter to support a mapping from valid domain

users to a predeﬁned guest account even if HP-UX does not have a

UNIX User ID for the domain user.

• Provide new options -n (nmbd only) and -s (smbd only) to the

startsmb and stopsmb utilities. These new options are used to start

and stop the daemons individually.

• Changes have been made to support the disk quotas conﬁguration

parameter.

• This version of the CIFS Server addresses problems resolved since

version A.02.01.01. Please refer to the section “New Fixes in the HP

CIFS Server A.02.01.02” on page 5 for details.
