Edition
The edition documents the following enhancements for the HP CIFS
Server 3.0b version A.02.01.01:
• Support for Active Directory Server (ADS). HP CIFS Server can join
an Windows 200x ADS realm as a native member server and
authenticate users using LDAP with Kerberos security.
• Support for Backup Domain Controller (BDC) functionality in a
domain in which it acts as a Primary Domain Controller (PDC).
• Support for winbind to provide UID and GID generation and
mapping for Windows users.
• Support for new authentication systems. In addition to continued
support for smbpasswd and LDAP authentication backends, HP CIFS
Server includes support of new account storage databases, ldapsam
and tdbsam.
• Support for new account management tools including pdbedit, net
commands, and smbpasswd to manage user account information.
• Support for three proven deployment models: Samba Domain Model,
Windows Domain Model and Unified Domain Model.
• Support for parameters changes in smb.conf file.
