Chapter 14
• Active Directory support: HP CIFS Server can join an ADS realm as
a member server and authenticate users using LDAP with Kerberos
security.
• Modular authentication system support: HP CIFS Server now
supports multiple account storage backend databases including
smbpasswd, HP Netscape Directory Servers (LDAP), and a new
tdbsam database. Refer to SWAT help text for "passdb backend" or
view the "smb.conf" man page for additional information.
• Winbind support: Dynamically assigns UNIX users and groups
(UID/GIDs) to Windows users and groups to facilitate integration in
Windows-based domains.
• Support for new account management tools
You can use utilities including pdbedit, net commands, and
smbpasswd to manage user account information. The net commands
provide numerous new utility operations and replace others. For
more information on how to use pdbedit and net commands, see
SWAT help text for pdbedit, net commands.
• Support for three deployment models: Samba Domain Model,
Windows Domain Model and Unified Domain Model. These three
models represent common network environments and demonstrate
HP CIFS Server’s flexibility.

There are new parameters and removed parameters in the
smb.conf file for HP CIFS Server A.02.01. See the Table 10-1,
