1 HP CIFS Server Release Note

Announcement

This document contains information about the new features provided in

the A.02.01 release of the HP CIFS Server, as well as other helpful

information. The following list highlights the main features.

Common Internet File System (CIFS) Server A.02.01

HP CIFS Server 3.0a version A.02.01 is based on Samba 3.0.7. Selected

ﬁxes from Samba 3.0.8 are incorporated including

samba-3.0.7-CAN-2004-0930.patch and

samba-3.0.7-CAN-2004-0882.patch security ﬁxes. HP CIFS Server

version A.02.01 includes:

• Documentation

— Samba book, "The Ofﬁcial Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference

Guide"

— Samba book, "Samba-3 by Example"

— Updated help text on conﬁguration parameters, utilities, and

tools

— HP CIFS Server Administrator’s Guide; updated to reﬂect A.02.*

features and differences with A.01.*

Samba books are provided with the HP CIFS Server product

B8725AA and are accessible through the SWAT home page, or can be

accessed directly at

/opt/samba/docs/Samba-HOWTO-Collection.pdf and

/opt/samba/swat/help. These books are excellent resources for

Samba feature descriptions, deployment strategy, and conﬁguration

help.They may serve as primary references for HP CIFS Server.

However, you should be aware that there are HP-UX and HP CIFS

Server deviations that are only addressed in the HP CIFS Server

Administrator’s Guide.
