HP CIFS Server 3.0a Administrator's Guide version A.02.01

Updating HP CIFS Server A.01 to A.02
Updating HP CIFS Server A.01.* to A.02.*
Chapter 10184
ldapsam_compat : An HP CIFS Server A.01.* version of
backward compatible LDAP account backend.
You might also specify a combination of passdb backends. You can
specify alternative backends. For example, the working sequence
follows the smb.conf keyword sequence of authentication methods:
passdb backend = smbpasswd tdbsam ldapsam ldapsam_compat
Update A.01.* versions of the HP CIFS PDC and standalone servers
to continue to use LDAP or smbpasswd as currently used.
You can set the passdb backend parameter to ldapsam_compat for
the LDAP backend, or set it to smbpasswd for the smbpasswd
backend.
You can maintain member servers as domain member servers by
conserving the security = domain configuration.
For more information on how to set up and configure domain member
servers, see Chapter 6, “Domain Member Server Support,” on
page 103 or Chapter 7, “Active Directory Service Member Server
Support,” on page 107 as appropriate after you have completed any
PDC changes.
Inspect smb.conf parameters and make required updates as
outlined in “Parameters Changes in smb.conf” on page 177.
Start the HP CIFS Server daemons and verify the changes.
Use pdbedit with options -i, -e, and -g to move from your
current database to your target. See SWAT help page for pdbedit.
If you use the LDAP backend, see Chapter 8, “LDAP Integration
Support,” on page 113, for detailed information.
Update the passdb backend parameter in the smb.conf file to
reflect your target authentication backend.
