HP CIFS Server Release Note
Features and Fixes in Recent Releases
Chapter 1 9
NOTE The HP CIFS Server only supports pre-Windows 2000 computer
membership in Windows 200x domains.
• New Configuration Parameter For SSL Support
The HP CIFS Server provides a new global parameter, ldap ssl,
available for you to configure the HP CIFS Server to enable the SSL
connection to the LDAP directory. This parameter is defined in the
/etc/opt/samba/smb.conf file
The ldap ssl option is used to specify the Secure Sockets Layer
(SSL) support. The HP CIFS Server does not support the ldap ssl =
start tls option. Specifies this parameter to Yes to enable the SSL
feature if your directory server uses SSL for LDAP, and No to disable
SSL. By default, this parameter is set to No
• New Options For Samba LDAP Tools
The HP CIFS Server provides two new script options, -Z, and -S, for
all Samba LDAP tools located in the
/opt/samba/LDAP/smbldap-tools directory. The following describes
new script options:
-Z uses the secure SSL connection to
the LDAP directory
-S Get LDAP configuration
parameters from the
/etc/opt/samba/smb.conf file
rather than the
/opt/samba/LDAP/smbldap-too
ls/smbldap_conf.pm file.
For detailed information on how to use script options, refer to the
“LDAP management Tools” section of HP CIFS Server 2.2i
Administrator’s Guide at http://www.docs.hp.com.
NOTE You may edit the script configuration file,
/opt/samba/LDAP/smbldap-tools/smbldap_conf.pm, to set the
LDAP parameters. Optionally, you can specify the -S option to use
