Known Problems and Workarounds

• Locate the entry, Domain Member:Digitally encrypt or sign
secure channel data (always), and disable it. By default, this
option is enabled.
• Locate the entry, Domain member: Disable machine account
password changes, and disable it. By default, this option is enabled.
• Locate the entry, Domain member: Require strong (Windows 2000
or later) session key, and disable it. By default, this option is
enabled.
Run the regedit command to edit or verify the following registry
entries:
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\n
etlogon\parameters\RequireSignOrSeal"=dword:00000000 (default
value = 0)
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA
\LMcompatibilitylevel =0 (default valud = 0)
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA
\RestrictAnonymous =0 (default value = 0)
• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Window
s\System\CompatibleRUPSecurity to have the DWORD value of 1.
Problem After changing the domain of HP CIFS Server, the user takes a long time
to logon.
Workaround Delete the .tdb files in /var/opt/samba/locks.
Problem Concurrent access of the same file from Windows Terminal Services and
UNIX may cause file corruption even if share mode locking is enabled.
Workaround Access the file directly from the Windows client instead of through
Windows Terminal Services.
Problem Creation of symlinks using UNIX extension fails if a full path is used to
specify the symlink.
Workaround Change to the directory where the symlink will reside and create the link
using relative path.
Problem Once the wins server option is set in the smb.conf file, it cannot be
cleared using SWAT utility
