HP CIFS Client A.01.09.03 What’s New in Version A.01.09.03? What’s New in Version A.01.09.03? This release contains the following: • PAM-NTLM 64-bit libraries This release of the HP CIFS Client provides 64-bit PAM-NTLM libraries. NOTE • The fix for PAM-NTLM 64-bit libraries applies only to HP-UX 11i v2 and later. Sticky bit set on the /var/opt/cifsclient/krb5_tmp directory The directory’s sticky bit is now set on both installations and updates of the HP CIFS Client.

Version A.01.09.02 was available only in limited release, before being superseded by A.01.09.03. For the HP CIFS Client A.01.09.
HP CIFS Client A.01.09.03 Features and Fixes in Recent Releases This fix addresses an obscure problem. When the status option is specified with the cifsclient control script (/opt/cifsclient/bin/cifsclient), a new mntck function, which checks for stale CIFS mounts, is called.

Resolve defect of CIFS mounts becoming unuseable This fix eliminates a cause of a rare problem wherein a CIFS mount can become inaccessible under certain conditions.
HP CIFS Client A.01.09.03 Features and Fixes in Recent Releases • Enhancements to cifsclient control script — The cifsclient shutdown message now displays a list of CIFS filesystems that are unmounted, or a message stating there were none to unmount. Extraneous notes in the startup and shutdown messages have been removed. — Shortcuts to the Kerberos commands, klist(1) and kdestroy(1), have been implemented.
HP CIFS Client A.01.09.03 Features and Fixes in Recent Releases This fix improves the synchronization of file timestamps between HP CIFS clients and Windows servers, when the time changes between standard and daylight savings time. • NetBIOS scope broken if scope has embedded period (“.”) character(s) This fixes a bug in the parsing of NetBIOS scope. Scope is an old feature of the CIFS protocol and its use is discouraged.

Use the following instructions to change to the new configuration parameters: 1. Change the value of runAsUser to runAsUser = “root”. runAsUser is in the global settings near the beginning of the file.

Large-File Support The CIFS Client removed previous restriction of four gigabytes. PAM NTLM • Supports Password Expiration Password expiration now works on non-trusted HP-UX systems. Refer to the HP CIFS Client manual for configuration details. • Password change supports try_first_pass and use_first_pass options.

The administrator has to be fully aware of the consequences of modifying the PAM configuration file. • PAM Stacking may cause problems when used with password change and expiry because of the password policy differences between the PAM modules being stacked.

Calls to lockf(1) and fcntl(1) over a cifsmount will fail. Support for byte range locks will be added in a future release of the HP CIFS Client. • The HP CIFS Client with ASU/9000 Servers There is a known, infrequent problem between the HP CIFS Client and ASU.

For example, if the user tries to change his password when the “user cannot change password” option is set on the NT server, the passwd command does not return a message. HP CIFS Client A.01.09.03 Software Availability in Native Languages Software Availability in Native Languages The CIFS Client is designed to work with a multitude of native languages: most character-sets used in modern languages in Europe, the middle East, the Americas and Asia are supported. The character-set displayed on the CIFS Client console is configured with the parameter clientCharMapFile, which selects any one of the many character mapping files provided with the product.
