Features and Fixes in Recent Releases
Chapter 16
For the HP CIFS Client A.01.09
• Kerberos Authentication
This release provides Kerberos authentication within the cifslogin and cifsmount
commands, and provides a method for automatic CIFS logins by integrating CIFS
authentication with programs that
utilize the system Kerberos cache, such as PAM KERBEROS and kinit(1).
• ONC AutoFS 2.3 Support
With this release , ONC AutoFS version 2.3 can automatically perform direct and indirect
mounts of CIFS filesystems.
NOTE ONC AutoFS 2.3 Support applies to HP-UX 11i v1 and v 2. If you have the
HP-UX 11i v1 system, you must install the ONC software package,
Enhanced AutoFS, available at http://software.hp.com to enable the
AutoFS 2.3 support.
• Reduce number of packets required to do long directory listing
This enhancement improves performance of the “ls -l” command on mounted CIFS
filesystems.
• Fix for duplicate /etc/mnttab entries
This fix eliminates a problem where, in certain instances, duplicate entries for
CIFS-mounted filesystems can be created in /etc/mnttab. Duplicate entries no longer
occur in the output of mount(1M).
• Eliminate NFS RPC timeout warnings on slow SMB responses
This fix eliminates NFS warnings that can occur if a CIFS network request (an SMB) is
not completed before the NFS request timeout occurs.
NOTE The fix for eliminating NFS RPC timeout warnings applies only to HP-UX
11i version 2.
• Resolve defect of CIFS mounts becoming unuseable
This fix eliminates a cause of a rare problem wherein a CIFS mount can become
inaccessible under certain conditions.
• cifsclientd core due to server protocol error
