With HP CIFS, Hewlett-Packard provides a Common Internet File
System (CIFS) implementation on HP-UX 11.i. CIFS is the Microsoft
protocol for remote file access. It is built into all recent Windows
operating systems, including Windows 95, 98, NT, and 2000. By
providing both server and client, HP CIFS provides file and print inter
operability for environments with any mix of UNIX and Windows
platforms.
The HP CIFS Server allows Microsoft and HP CIFS Clients to access the
server’s file system. The HP CIFS Client can mount file systems made
shareable by Windows, HP CIFS servers, or ASU/9000.
HP CIFS also provides PAM NTLM, which is used to authenticate users
logging into HP-UX system against Windows NT servers.
