This release contains the following enhancements: • Kerberos Authentication This release provides Kerberos authentication within the cifslogin and cifsmount commands, and provides a method for automatic CIFS logins by integrating CIFS authentication with programs that utilize the system Kerberos cache, such as PAM KERBEROS and kinit(1). • ONC AutoFS 2.3 Support With this release , ONC AutoFS version 2.
HP CIFS Client A.01.09 What’s New in Version A.01.09? • Resolve defect of CIFS mounts becoming unuseable This fix eliminates a cause of a rare problem wherein a CIFS mount can become inaccessible under certain conditions. • cifsclientd core due to server protocol error This fix eliminates an abort caused by a third-party CIFS server which transmits an SMB negotiate response packet with an incorrect databyte count.

Help is still available with cifslist -h. • Enhancements to cifsclient control script — The cifsclient shutdown message now displays a list of CIFS filesystems that are unmounted, or a message stating there were none to unmount. Extraneous notes in the startup and shutdown messages have been removed. — Shortcuts to the Kerberos commands, klist(1) and kdestroy(1), have been implemented.

HP CIFS Client A.01.09 Known Problems and Workarounds Known Problems and Workarounds For the HP CIFS Client • The HP CIFS Client with ASU/9000 Servers There is a known, infrequent problem between the HP CIFS Client and ASU. If you find that a connection to an ASU server becomes inaccessible, turn off opportunistic locks (oplocks) for communications with ASU, in the CIFS Client configuration file /etc/opt/cifsclient/cifsclient.cfg.
HP CIFS Client A.01.09 Known Problems and Workarounds For PAM NTLM The passwd(1) program may not return any message (Success or Failure) in some cases. For example, if the user tries to change his password when the “user cannot change password” option is set on the NT server, the passwd command does not return a message. In such cases, check the return value of the passwd command (passwd returns zero for success) and the syslog file (/var/adm/syslog/syslog.log).

The character-set displayed on the CIFS Client console is configured with the parameter clientCharMapFile, which selects any one of the many character mapping files provided with the product.
