This document describes HP CIFS server A.03.02.02 changes, defect fixes, and other information.
HP CIFS server A.03.02.02 is supported on HP-UX 11i v2.
NOTE: The latest CIFS-SERVER version for HP-UX 11i v3 is A.03.02.01.
What's new in HP CIFS server A.03.02.02
HP CIFS server A.03.02.02 is a defect fix release based on Samba 3.6.6. For more information
on defects fixed in this release, see “Defect fixes in HP CIFS server” (page 7).
The known issue Address space model for the latest HP CIFS binaries, version A.03.01.00 or
later, are not MPAS enabled” is fixed in this release.
CAUTION: HP supports only the HP CIFS server binaries delivered by HP. You must use the
swinstall utility to formally install versions of HP CIFS server. Do not copy HP CIFS server binaries
of different revisions between systems into the /opt/samba/bin sub-directory.
NOTE: HP CIFS server product is no longer tested on Windows 2000 operating system from
version A.03.01.04 onwards.
NOTE: Starting from version A.03.01.xx, HP CIFS server does not provide support for CFSM.
Product revision number
New versions of the HP CIFS server are identified by the product revision number (A.xx.xx.FF),
and is either a feature or fix release.
Feature releases include new functionality or new Samba source version. The base product revision
number (A.xx.xx) is increased from the pervious version number. A fix suffix number is not used.
Fix releases include only those changes required to correct specific defects. The base product
revision number (A.xx.xx) is unchanged. Only the fix suffix number (A.xx.xx.FF) is increased.
Additional feature support
Starting from A.03.01.xx, HP CIFS server also supports:
Windows server 2008R2 and Windows 7 operating systems.
Inter-domain trust relationships with Windows 2008 and 2008R2 domains.
Windows Vista clients authenticating through Kerberos.
The Dynamic DNS update option is available in HP CIFS server A.02.04.01 and later.
The new HP CIFS server A.03.02.00 release supports the following features:
Full support for SMB2
SMB2 within Samba is implemented with a brand new asynchronous server architecture,
allowing Samba to display the performance enhancements SMB2 brings to Microsoft networking
technology.
Improved Printing Support
Print subsystem has been rewritten to use automatically generated RPCs and provides greater
compatibility with the Windows SPOOLSS print subsystem architecture, including export of
printer data via registry interfaces.
