Installing BOOTAUTH11i
This section contains information about installing BOOTAUTH11i from the CD-ROM
and the software depot.
Installing From the CD-ROM
Step 1. Log in as root.
Step 2. Mount the CD drive to the desired directory. The following example uses the /cdrom
directory (you can find the CD drive device file by using the ioscan -fnC disk
command):
# mount -r /dev/dsk/clt2d0 /cdrom
Step 3. Back up your system before installing BOOTAUTH11i.
Step 4. Use SD to install the BOOTAUTH11i bundle from the CD. Note that you may need to
specify the autoreboot flag as the bundle contains an init(1M) patch.
# swinstall -s /cdrom BOOTAUTH11i
The system will reboot after installation.
Step 5. After the system reboots, verify the installation logs using the following command:
# swverify BOOTAUTH11i
NOTE The new feature is disabled by default. You can enable it by configuring the BOOT_AUTH
parameter in the /etc/default/security file. For more information, see the
security(4) man page after installation.
The following are installed with the BOOTAUTH11i bundle:
The new product SM-BootAuth which provides core functionality of the boot
authentication feature
A set of pre-enablement patches
The security (4) man page patch with updated configuration information for this new
feature
Installing From Software Depot
Step 1. Go to HP’s Software Depot (http://software.hp.com).
Step 2. Select Enhancement Releases and patch bundles.
Step 3. Select HP-UX Software Pack.
Instead of steps 2 and 3, you can select Security and manageability.
Step 4. Select HP-UX Boot Authenticator for Standard Mode of HP-UX.
Step 5. Follow the instructions to download and install BOOTAUTH11i.
