This document provides information about the HP-UX 11i v3 release of HP Auto Port Aggregation (APA). HP APA Overview This release of HP APA now supports the aggregation of eight physical ports into a link aggregate, IPv6 addressing for link aggregates and LAN Monitor failover groups, TSO (TCP Segmentation Offload), Proactive Failover Support (PFO) for failover groups (link aggregates in LAN_MONITOR mode), 64-bit statistics, and 8-port link aggregates.
• • • Supports HP-UX APA operations in the System Management Homepage (SMH) Graphical User Interface and Terminal User Interface. Supports HP-UX APA operations in the new nwmgr command. Supports SSHA (Single System High Availability) Online-Deletion of NICs. Improves system and network availability. • Supports LACP (IEEE802.3ad) fast timeout. HP APA can detect link failures more quickly. • Supports Nortel's Split Multi-Link Trunking (SMLT) technology.
Hardware Requirements This version of HP APA runs on HP Integrity servers with the HP-UX 11i v3 (B.11.31.02) operating system. HP APA supports Cisco's FastEtherChannel (FEC, also known as PAgP) protocol, the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (IEEE 802.3ad), or manual trunking mechanisms.
