Providing CPU resources in proportion to a metric
This section explains how to set up a workload group with an allocation
that varies in proportion to a metric.
To adjust a workload’s CPU allocation in step with a given metric, such
as number of processes in the workload, users connected to a database,
or any other metric, use the cpushares keyword with per metric in an
slo structure.
In the following figure, the workload receives 5 CPU shares for each
active process in the workload group. As the number of processes
increases, the number of CPU shares increases.
To set up a workload group with an allocation that varies in proportion to
a metric:
Step 1. Define the workload group and assign a workload to it.
In your WLM configuration file, define your workload group in a prm
structure using the groups keyword. Assign a workload to the group
using the apps keyword.
