HP-UX Workload Manager User's Guide

Managing SLOs across partitions
Setting up your WLM global arbiter configuration file
Chapter 7 265
primary_host Is an optional keyword that identifies the host name of
the system running the global arbiter. The system can
be any HP-UX system that has network connectivity to
the partitions being managed by WLM.
hostname Is the name or IP address of the host running the
arbiter.
port_number (Optional) Is a port number greater than 0 indicating
the port that the global arbiter is to monitor. If you
specify a port number in a WLM configuration file on a
partition, specify the same port number in the WLM
global arbiter configuration file and in the WLM
configuration file in each partition.
For more information on how a port is chosen, see the
section “Setting up your WLM global arbiter
configuration file” on page 265 or see wlmparconf(4).
NOTE Recall that WLM uses absolute CPU units when a configuration includes
the primary_host keyword. As a result, 100 represents a single core,
and any CPU shares you specify are out of 100 multiplied by the number
of cores. For example, 200 represents 2 cores. For more information on
absolute CPU units, see “Using absolute CPU units” on page 217.
For information on creating the rest of the WLM configuration file, see
the chapter Chapter 5, “Configuring WLM,” on page 135 or see
wlmconf(4).
Setting up your WLM global arbiter
configuration file
On the system where the global arbiter is going to run, create a global
arbiter configuration file.
