1 HP-UX WBEM SCSI Provider Release Notes This document discusses the most recent product information on HP-UX WBEM SCSI provider, which is supported on HP-UX 11i v1, HP-UX 11i v2, and HP-UX 11i v3 operating systems. Table 1-1 “Documentation Support for SCSI Provider” lists the product versions for which the document is applicable. Announcement Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor environments. The WBEM clients use the mass storage providers to gather information about various subsystems. The WBEM standard enables the WBEM clients to subscribe to indications, and indication consumers to receive indications on the occurrence of events of interest on the managed system.
HP-UX WBEM SCSI Provider The SCSI provider enables WBEM client applications to retrieve information about SCSI HBAs, such as maximum data width, chip type, and maximum transfer rate on the system. The features of SCSI provider are described below: • Supports Instance Provider feature This feature provides information about SCSI-HBA subsystem in the managed node. • Supports SCSI-CSP feature This feature reports the overall health status of the SCSI subsystem in the managed node.

Installing HP-UX WBEM SCSI Provider The latest WBEM SCSI provider depot is available for download on the OE media. It is also available on the Web for download at: http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/ management/hpsim/dl_hpux.html#managed For information on installing the providers, see the Website at: http://h20293.www2.hp.com/ Hardware Requirements and OS Support Table 1-2 lists the platform support information for the SCSI provider.
Defects Fixed in This Version This section describes defects fixed in the HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 OS. Table 1-4 Defect Fix in HP-UX 11i v2 OS Defect ID Description Defect Fix in B.11.23.1004 Release QXCR1000905943 In the previous version, SCSI Consolidated Status Provider returns no value for HPUX_SCSIPortControllerCollection class if SCSI cards are not installed on the machine. Due to this defect, the System Management Homepage displays incorrect consolidated status of the cards.
Known Problems, Workarounds, Limitations There are no known problems and workarounds in the current release. Following are the limitations of the SCSI provider: • It is a read-only provider and hence does not allow users to modify, create, or delete instances.
