Provider Overview

Description

Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry-wide initiative to unify the management of

system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor environments. The provider works in

the WBEM environment.

HP-UX SCSI-HBA Consolidated Status (CS) Provider is a Common Information Model (CIM) health status

provider for SCSI Host Bus Adapters (HBA).

This provider reports the overall health status of all the SCSI HBA controllers on systems running HP-UX.

Requirements

The provider requires:

1. HP WBEM Services A.02.05 for HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2 systems.

2. SCSI-HBA instance provider B.11.23.0706 or later installed on the target system where SCSIHBA

CSP will be installed.

Managed systems running HP WBEM Services for HP-UX.

The provider is supported on HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2.

Setting up this

provider

The HP-UX SCSI HBA CS Provider is a part of the HP-UX SCSI HBA Provider, which is available as an

Independent Software Unit (ISU) for HP-UX 11i v1 and HP-UX 11i v2 systems.

Installing this provider

The SCSI-HBA CS Provider is included in the Software Distributor bundle SCSI-Provider, which installs

the following files/directories on the system:

- Schema MOF files: HPUX_SCSIProtocolControllerCollection.mof,

HPUX_SCSIProtocolControllerGroupHostedCollection.mof, and

HPUX_SCSIProtocolControllerMemberOfCollection.mof (in /opt/scsiprovider/mof directory)

- MOFs registration file: HPUXSCSICSProviderModule.mof (in /opt/scsiprovider/mof directory)

- Provider registration MOF file: HPUXSCSICSProviderModuleRegister.mof (in

/opt/scsiprovider/mof directory)

- Provider module shared library: libHPUXSCSICSProviderModule.sl (in /opt/scsiprovider/lib

directory, and is the target of the symbolic link in /opt/wbem/providers/lib/)

The HP-UX SCSI-HBA CS Provider is registered to support the "root/cimv2" namespace as an instance

provider.

NOTE: Managed object files(MOF) define the hierarchy of the provider supported classes in the CIM

schema structure. The provider registration with CIMOM is also defined in MOF files, called the ‘provider

registration’ MOF.

onfiguring this provider

This provider does not accept specific configuration adjustments beyond the standard WBEM support.

Description of logging :

All the errors or Warnings are logged in syslog file : /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log file. The logs are

prefixed with “SCSI CSProvider”

For example: If you enter wrong key value for HPUX_SCSIProtocolControllerCollection class, the following

message is logged in syslog :

Using this provider schema supported by this provider This provider supports HP_GroupSystemSpecificCollection, HP_GroupHostedCollection and CIM_MemberOfCollection classes through the sub-classes HPUX_SCSIProtocolControllerCollection, HPUX_SCSIProtocolControllerGroupHostedCollection, and HPUX_SCSIProtocolControllerMemberOfCollection. Tables 1 through 3 describe the properties and methods supported by the provider.
