HP-UX WBEM ProviderSvcsBase (PSB) Release Notes (September 2013)

NOTE: It is recommended to install or upgrade to WBEMMgmtBundle C.07.01 prior to
upgrading the system firmware. If system firmware version 44.01 or later is already installed
on the system, it is required to reboot the system after upgrading to WBEMMgmtBundle
C.07.01 for optimized memory reliability to take effect.
• Support for Integrity rackmount server rx2900 i4.
• SMH-Health test tab has been removed for all components except for Disk, Processor and
Memory.
Defect fixes
The following defect fixes are tabulated from the Mega Bundle, September 2013 release.
• QXCR1001269605: Better to pipe pg_dump output, to compress to reduce disk used by backup
file
Problem: Upgrade to 1303 releases failed due to disk full issues caused by postgres data
backup file.
Resolution: This problem is fixed. The output of the backup command was compressed in-place
to keep the disk usage minimal.
• QXCR1001249733 ProviderSvcsCore scripts need better tests for existing databases to avoid
errors.
Problem: Deleting files under /var/opt/psb/db/pgsql directory throws postgreSQL errors
during upgrade to 1209 WBEMMgmtBundle.
Resolution: This problem is fixed. The scripts are made more resilient to handle the tempered
postgres data directory while upgrade installation.
Installing the HP-UX ProviderSvcsBase (PSB)
The PSB depot is available for download on the OE media and web. Starting from HP-UX 11i v3
September 2011 release, all the products namely ProviderSvcsBase (PSB), SysFaultMgmt (System
Fault Management or SFM), the I/O Providers namely HP-UX WBEM RAIDSA Provider, HP-UX
WBEM SAS Provider, HP-UX WBEM Fibre-Channel Provider, HP-UX WBEM Direct Attached Storage
Provider (DASProvider) must be installed together to maintain compatibility among the diagnostic
products.

September 2011 web release onwards, all the HP-UX 11i v3 version of WBEM
providers and Diagnostics products, are available for download on the WBEM
Management bundle for HP-UX 11i v3 bundle page at https://

productNumber=WBEMMgmtBundle.
NOTE: HP's WBEM Management bundle is released only on the web. All the
products from the WBEM Management bundle must be installed together. This is
due to product interdependency. These products might not work if they are installed
individually.
Hardware requirements
Currently, this product is supported on all HP Integrity systems.
Software requirements and OS support
The provider requires certain software products to be installed on the managed system.Table 2 (page
7) lists the software product requirement for the provider.
