HP-UX WBEM Mass Storage Providers Release Notes, June 2007

Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the
management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor
environments. The WBEM clients use the mass storage providers to gather information about
various subsystems. The WBEM standard enables the WBEM clients to subscribe to indications,
and indication consumers to receive indications on the occurrence of events of interest on the
managed system. This release of HP-UX WBEM Providers supports the following providers:
• HP-UX WBEM Fibre Channel Provider
• HP-UX WBEM SCSI Provider
• HP-UX WBEM IOTree Provider
• HP-UX WBEM IOTree Indication Provider
• HP-UX WBEM LVM Provider
HP-UX WBEM Fibre Channel Provider
The Fibre Channel Provider enables WBEM client applications to retrieve information about the
Fibre Channel host-bus adapters (FC-HBA) on the system.
The common features supported by the mass storage providers are listed in the “Common
Features” section.
The features specific to FC Provider are described below:
• Supports Instance Provider feature.
— This feature provides information about FC-HBA subsystem in the managed node.
• Supports FC-CSP feature
— This feature reports the overall health status of the FC-HBA subsystem in the managed
node.
• Supports FC-IP feature
— This feature generates indications whenever the events of interest occur in the Fibre
Channel subsystems.
HP-UX WBEM SCSI Provider
The SCSI Provider enables the WBEM client applications to retrieve information about SCSI
HBAs, such as maximum data width, chip type, and maximum transfer rate on the system.
The common features supported by the mass storage providers are listed in the “Common
Features” section.
The features specific to SCSI Provider are described below:
• Supports Instance Provider feature
— This feature provides information about SCSI-HBA subsystem in the managed node.
• Supports SCSI-CSP feature
— This feature reports the overall health status of the SCSI subsystem in the managed
node.
HP-UX WBEM IOTree Provider
The IOTree Provider enables WBEM client applications to retrieve information about the various
attributes of the PCI I/O subsystem. It obtains the basic HP-UX PCI subsystem information, such
