hp-ux LAN Provider – CIM Provider for Ethernet LAN

description The hp-ux LAN Provider is a CIM Provider for Ethernet-based LAN interfaces. The Provider provides

information on LAN interfaces in the system. The provider shows only Ethernet-based LAN links and shows

each of the Ethernet links as an available Ethernet port (HPUX_EthernetPort; sub-class of CIM_EthernetPort)

and also as LAN protocol endpoint (HPUX_EthernetLANEndpoint; sub-class of CIM_LANEndpoint). The

Provider also supports an association between these two classes, allowing a correlation between an

Ethernet port and a LAN protocol endpoint. This association class name is

HPUX_EthernetPortImplementsLANEndpoint; sub-class of CIM_PortImplementsEndpoint.

Client applications can use the LAN Provider to determine all

Ethernet LAN links available in the system.

The Internet Protocol (IP) Provider, which supports an association between IP and LAN Endpoints, can be

used to determine which LAN interface is associated with a given IP address. The IP Provider is packaged

with the HP WBEM services for HP-UX.

The LAN Provider instruments the CIM_EthernetPort, CIM_LANEndpoint, and the

CIM_PortImplementsEndpoint classes from CIM Schema v2.7. These standard CIM classes are sub-classed

to be hp-ux specific classes; as HPUX_EthernetPort, HPUX_EthernetLANEndpoint and

HPUX_EthernetPortImplementsLANEndpoint respectively.

This Provider is for use by clients as part of a basic understanding of the identity of the managed system on

which it is running (typically a server or appliance).

requirements The Provider requires HP WBEM Services for hp-ux version A.02.00 or later. If your system has September

2004 OE installed, note that this version of the WBEM services would already be on your system.

• 10GigE speed support

• New property support for:

o CIM_LogicalPort.MaxSpeed

o CIM_NetworkPort.FullDuplex

o CIM_NetworkPort.SupportedMaximumTransmissionUnit

o CIM_NetworkPort.ActiveMaximumTransmissionUnit

Note that the base product from the September 2004 OE media as described

below must

have been installed prior to installing the patch.

All Ethernet links that are registered and known to hp-ux DLPI. Any other third-party NIC/Driver that does not register with hp-ux DLPI will not be

known to this Provider.
