HP-UX WBEM Kernel Providers Release Notes

Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the
management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor
environments. In the current release, the Kernel Provider depot contains both the Swap Provider
related fileset and Kernel Configuration Provider related fileset.
The Kernel Providers enable you to obtain information about kernel parameters and swap space
parameters. This provider works in the WBEM environment. The Kernel Providers include the
following providers:
• kctune provider — This provider enables you to obtain information related to the kernel
tunable parameters.
• kcmodule provider — This provider enables you to obtain information related to the kernel
module parameters.
• Swap provider — This provider enables you to obtain information related to the swap space
available on the system.
Each swap device configured on the system has a subset of attributes. For more information
about the swap device properties and their attributes, see the Swap Provider Datasheet.
Features
The Kernel Configuration Providers and Swap Provider support the following features:
• Supports Instance provider feature
— This feature provides information about kernel tunable parameters and swap space
related parameters.
• Supports enumerateInstances, enumerateInstanceNames, and getInstance methods
— The enumerateInstances method returns all instances of class with all the properties
and their respective values.
— The enumerateInstanceNames method returns the object path of all instances of the
class.
— The getInstance method returns the requested instance with all the properties and their
respective values. There will always be only one instance.
• Supports multiple client instances
In addition to the features listed above, the following method is supported by the Swap Provider:
• Supports getProperty method
— The getProperty method returns a single property value of an instance in the class.
Installing the Kernel Providers

Software Requirements
The Kernel Providers require WBEM Services Version A.02.05 to be installed on HP-UX 11i v2
and HP-UX 11i v3 systems.
