HP-UX WBEM Kernel Provider Release Notes, September 2010
Announcement
Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the
management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor
environments. In the current release, the Kernel provider depot contains Kernel Configuration
provider related fileset, Swap provider related fileset, and Boot and Crash dump provider related
fileset.
This provider works in the WBEM environment. The Kernel providers include the following
providers:
• kctune provider — This provider enables you to obtain information related to the kernel
tunable parameters. The tunable parameter values can be modified using the
modifyInstance method supported by the provider on HP-UX 11i v3 OS.
• kcmodule provider — This provider enables you to obtain information related to the kernel
module parameters. The module states can be modified using the modifyInstance method
supported by the provider on HP-UX 11i v3 OS.
• Swap provider — This provider enables you to obtain information related to the swap space
available on the system.
NOTE: Each swap device configured on the system has a subset of attributes. For more
information about the swap device properties and their attributes, see the Swap Provider
Datasheet.
• Boot provider — This provider enables you to obtain information related to the boot variables
in stable storage.
• Crash dump provider — This provider enables you to obtain crash dump configuration
details of the current system.
NOTE: The Boot and Crash dump providers are supported only on HP-UX 11i v3 system.

The Kernel Configuration providers, Swap provider, and Boot and Crash dump providers support
