1 HP-UX WBEM Kernel Providers Release Notes This document discusses the most recent product information on HP-UX Kernel providers that is supported on HP-UX 11i v2 and HP-UX 11i v3 operating systems. Table 1-1 “Documentation Support for Kernel Provider” lists the product versions for which the document is applicable. Announcement Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor environments. In the current release, the Kernel provider depot contains Kernel Configuration provider related fileset, Swap provider related fileset, and Boot and Crash dump provider related fileset. This provider works in the WBEM environment.
• Instance provider — This feature provides information about kernel configuration parameters, swap space related parameters, boot variables in stable storage, and crash dump related parameters. The kernel tunable parameters, kernel module states, and crash dump related parameters can be modified using modifyInstance method. The modifyInstance method is supported only on HP-UX 11i v3 OS. The instance provider supports enumerateInstances, enumerateInstanceNames, and getInstance method.
What's New in This Release This version of the product contains a defect fix. For information about the defect fix, see “Defects Fixed in This Version”. Table 1-4 Defect fix in HP-UX 11i v2 OS Defect ID Description Defect Fix in B.01.01.02.01 Release QXCR1001007320 The KernelProviderModule dumps core due to a bug in SwapProvider. The bug is due to corruption of the static map, which is a map of all the classes in swap provider. This static map is initialized in a thread unsafe manner, and gets invoked during the enumerate instances operation of the Swap provider.
Software Availability in Native Languages The product is supported only in English locale (LANG=C). Behavior of the product is unpredictable when LANG value is set to any other language code other than C. Documentation support for this product is also available only in English locale.
