This section describes the WBEM IOTree Indication provider defects fixed in the HP-UX 11i v2 and
11i v3 operating systems.
Table 6 Defect fix in the HP-UX 11i v2 OS
DescriptionDefect ID
Defect Fix in B.11.23.0909 Release
In the previous release, the IOTreeIndicationProvider polls I/O subsystem frequently to get the
subsystem status. During this polling, the OLAR system call is used internally, which is an expensive
system call and it increases the CPU utilization time.
QXCR1000955094
In the current release, the CPU utilization time (during the subsystem status polling) is reduced by
replacing the OLAR system call by less expensive system calls.
In the previous release, the IOTreeIndicationProvider polls I/O subsystem, every 1 minute, to get
the subsystem status. During this polling, the OLAR system call is used internally, which is an
expensive system call and it increases the CPU utilization time.
QXCR1000955096
In the current release, users can configure I/O subsystem polling interval to improve the CPU
utilization time. The configuration file, to configure the polling interval, is available at the following
location on the system: /var/opt/iotreeip/config.
By default, the I/O subsystem polling interval value is set to 1 minute.

Defect Fix in B.11.31.1003 Release
In the previous release, the IOTreeIndicationProvider polls I/O subsystem frequently to get the
subsystem status. During this polling, the OLAR system call is used internally, which is an expensive
system call and it increases the CPU utilization time.
QXCR1000782615
In the current release, the CPU utilization time (during the subsystem status polling) is reduced by
replacing the OLAR system call by less expensive system calls.
This fix is available as part of B.11.31.1003 release on the AR media, and as a patch
PHSS_40180 for B.11.31.0903 and B.11.31.0809 release.
In the previous release, the IOTreeIndicationProvider polls I/O subsystem, every 1 minute, to get
the subsystem status. During this polling, the OLAR system call is used internally, which is an
expensive system call and it increases the CPU utilization time.
