Announcement Web-Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is an industry wide initiative to unify the management of system, networks, and applications across multiple and diverse vendor environments. The WBEM clients use the mass storage providers to gather information about various subsystems. The WBEM standard enables the WBEM clients to subscribe to indications, and indication consumers to receive indications on the occurrence of events of interest on the managed system.
HP-UX WBEM FC Provider The FC provider enables WBEM client applications to retrieve information about the Fibre Channel host-bus adapters (FC-HBA) on the system. The features of FC provider are described below: • Supports Instance provider feature This feature provides information about FC-HBA subsystem in the managed node. • Supports FC-CSP feature This feature reports the overall health status of the FC-HBA subsystem in the managed node.
What's New in This Release Following features are supported in the current release: • • The System Management Homepage (SMH) web page display is enhanced to provide detailed information about the FC adapter installed on the system. For more information about the properties displayed, see the Storage subsystem on the SMH web page. The fclp adapter is supported by the FC provider and the adapter properties are displayed on the WBEM clients. A defect is fixed in the current release.
Installing HP-UX WBEM FC Provider The latest WBEM FC Provider depot is available for download on the OE media. It is also available on the Web for download at: http://h18013.www1.hp.com/products/servers/ management/hpsim/ dl_hpux.html#managed NOTE: The mass storage WBEM providers depot available on the Web does not support CSP and IP features for all the related subsystems. Defects Fixed in This Version The following defects are fixed in the FC provider for March 2009 release. To view entire details of each defect fix, refer to the HP IT Resource Center at: http:// forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/ forums/home.
Known Problems, Workarounds, Limitations There are no known problems and workarounds in the current release. Following is the limitation of the FC provider: • It is a read-only provider and hence does not allow users to modify, create, or delete instances.
